Biographical Sketch (伝記のスケッチ)

For my thesis I was asked to provide a biographical sketch. They wanted the usual things like: Where was I born? Where did I grow up? Where did I study? What are my hobbies? Those kinds of things. I thought it was a foolish request. What does it matter? Who really cares? Why do they ask us to define ourselves in such mundane and trivial ways? In the end, this is what I gave them:

"Cyclops, you ask my name and I will tell it to you. But give me therefore, the present you promised me. My name is No Man - this is what my father and my mother and my friends have always called me. I am No Man." - The Odyssey by Homer
