Misaki Ito around the World (伊東美咲)

HaHaHa!:)
だいじょおぶですね。彼女は可愛いとおかしいですね。科学が可愛いじゃないです – おかしいじゃないです。Ces’t la vie.

失礼しました。 私は日本語をはなすことができません。

Yes Japan, Misaki Ito is extremely popular. I get hits (on this blog) and e-mails about her from all over the world. Every country - every culture. There are many beautiful and talented actresses in Japan but people really love Misaki Ito. Misaki Ito is playing a part in the series Edison’s Mother. I did enjoy the show very much.
This is strange: sometimes I have to write out an interesting scientific idea. For example, next week, I have to present an idea involving artificial chromosomes. But, Misaki Ito is still much more important. HaHaHa! :) But that’s okay, she is cute and funny. Science is not cute and is not funny. Oh well, that’s life ;)
I'm sorry. I don't speak Japanese very well.

Build it and they will come

Give the cells the scaffolding and they can organize themselves. More importantly, is that if you generate an organ from stem cells, the risk of a graft-rejection immune response should be greatly reduced. However, the substrate itself could still present a problem in HLA recognition. Nonetheless, it's still an awesome step forward.
Will I be there to transplant some lab-grown organs one day? Who knows? But growing organs in the lab was the whole reason I gave up my seat at the veterinary program in New Zealand and decided to go to medical school instead. This is awesome!

Alright already!

I rarely whine about stuff but today - okay - I’ll finish my stupid thesis!
But I’m so tired of sperm. I want to do more stem cell stuff damn it. People keep asking me: “When are you going to finish your PhD?” "When are you done with graduate school?" "When are you going back to medical school?" Well, it’s 97% written and all the experiments are finished, but after 50,000 embryos and 4,500,000 sperm, I just don’t care anymore.
I’d much rather try building a game or learning to do art illustration. I still have things I want to do in the medical field too - donor livers are still hard to come by you know.
Okay, I'm done whining and venting. Now I'll just get back to writing.

Happy New Year from Oregon 2008

Yeah I know - I'm a day late. Close enough when you're busy taking computer programming classes. Anyway, here's a photo from a creek on the Oregon Coast. The cool thing is that the Pacific Ocean is right behind the trees in the background. I really love such a dynamic coastline. This is one of those shallow rivers that salmon swim up to spawn in. In fact, there were a couple of salmon off to my right. I also noticed that these salmon have to pass by a picket of hungry seals at the mouth of the creek (where it meets the ocean) in order to swim up it.
So to any readers of this blog, I sincerely hope that you have a peaceful year. I'm serious. Your welfare matters to me.
